My story began the spring of 2015. As a single father with a young daughter, I quickly found out that my house was the house where all the kids would hang out. I would find myself out with three to four kids all the time.

Whether out at a park, on excursions, field trips or just hanging out with my daughter, I was the cool dad. One problem that was a constant issue during these outing was proper shade from the sun, shelter from the rain, or a structure that would handle Colorado’s ever changing weather patterns. Like the old saying goes, “If you don’t like the weather in Denver, just wait a minute.”

One day while out with my daughter and about three to four kids in tow, is when the idea hit me like a ton of tents. I noticed the family next to me popping up their tent. The same old frames and structures that are seen throughout the personal tent industry. On top of that, it was that drab green/tan color that the market seems to be drawn to. After countless sketches and prototypes TABU was born. The idea was finally cemented when these iconic structures were blended together as one new structure; first the American calvary tent, second the Native American Teepee, and finally Egypt’s pyramids. When you pitch-up your new TABU, all three structures will become visible to the eye. A semi-enclosed tent in which any outdoor lawn/lounge chair made could fit comfortably inside.
